I bought this book several months ago for my son who is very keen on golf course architecture. As many have said, I was surprised at the size - although that is not the reason for my 3* rating. It does clearly state the size as 9" x 6".I just recently had a chance to look closer at the book - and I noticed numerous mistakes, which definitely surprised me. I especially noticed the mistake for the UK courses, as those were my primary interest.I list a few below:1. Opening photos - on the Table of Contents page it lists the preceding photos. For pages 4-5 it says "Lakes Course, Blue Canyon, Phuket, Thailand. The photo is actually Carnoustie - you can see by the clubhouse (compare with the photo on page166 - you can see its the same clubhouse). Plus I recognize it because I was there this summer prior to the Open Championship!2. I am also not sure if the photos on pages 2-3 are actually Turnberry Kintyre #9? In the caption it says "9th hole par 5" but #9 on Kintyre is a par 4?3. Section 3 is "Great Britain and Ireland" - pages 138-139 are corrected identified (caption on page 140) as Lahinch Old #6. But the photos on pages 140-141 are captioned as Lahinch Old as well - and they are not! There are no lakes on Lahinch Old! Is also doesn't appear to be Lahinch Castle course - so which course is it?I looked on page 137 for the courses that are listed which include Celtic Manor, but there are no photos in Section 3 captioned as Celtic Manor. But I am not sure the photos on pages 140-141 are even Celtic Manor?Just surprised that in a book soley about photos of famous golf courses, that photos would be mis-identified. I wonder if there are additional errors that I have not found yet.

Lots of great photos, cool book to peruse through no doubt just be aware it's not an oversized book.I'm a little confused as to the "full spreads and gatefolds—some measuring over five feet in length—and includes a numbered print signed by the photographer." I haven't found anything to be "over five feet in length" or a print signed by photographer yet.

Very disappointed with this book! The photos are small and the captions are almost impossible to read. If you are ordering this book for an avid golfer, save your money.

Mine was not condition as described

The second I took this thing out of the box it went straight on my coffee table. Some of the best photos I've seen and even a few courses that I have never heard of. Makes a great present for the golf fan in your life. Buy this book!

In seiner 40-jährigen Erfahrung als Keramiker ist Kusakabe’s Kunst international ausgestellt worden, und er hat über 20 Öfen gebaut. Kusakabe lebt und arbeitet als Lehrer und Maler im japanischen Miharu.Lancet stellt seit über 30 Jahren Skulpturen und Keramiken her und hat mit einer Vielzahl von Materialien gearbeitet. Am Solano Community College ist Lancet schon lange als Lehrer für dreidimensionale Kunst tätig, seine Werke werden international ausgestellt. Von der University of California in Santa Barbara hat er den Titel eines Masters für Skulptur und Erziehung verliehen bekommen.

...aber für den Hausgebrauch nicht machbar. Ich wollte eigentlich nur wissen, wie ich ohne Elektroofen brennen könnte. Das Buch ist eigentlich eine Anleitung wie man in grossen Gruppen für dieselben traditionell Töpferwaren brennt. Das benötigte Grundstück sollte dann etwa die Grösse eines handelsüblichen Fussballplatzes haben. Für Anfänger eher nicht geeignet. Deshalb ging es auch wieder zurück.Allerdings enthält es viele Rezepte und schöne Bilder.

Ich hatte beim Tag der offenen Töpferei die Gelegenheit, verschiedene Holzbrand-Öfen zu sehen und mir die Funktionsweisen erklären zu lassen. Zudem habe ich auch in diesem Buch blättern dürfen. Es ist sehr gut geschrieben und erklärt viele Funktionsweisen, Verhaltensweisen und Abläufe beim Brennen. Zudem ist es sehr gut bebildert. Wer diese Brennart durchführen will, sollte genügend Platz (großes Grundstück, aber nicht gleich ein Fußballplatz...) und einen guten Brennholzlieferanten an der Hand haben. Es ist mit harter Arbeit verbunden und man sollte auch Ahnung vom Töpferberuf mitbringen. Das Buch ist definitiv für Leute vom Fach und nicht für's Hobby zum "einmal probieren". Es ist eben ein Fachbuch. In einer anderen Rezension habe ich gelesen, dass "Mann" das Buch aufgrund Platzmangel wieder zurück geschickt hat. Für Fachmänner sehr zu empfehlen.

Simon Armitage was born in West Yorkshire and is Professor of Poetry at the University of Sheffield. A recipient of numerous prizes and awards, he has published ten collections of poetry, including Selected Poems (2001), Seeing Stars (2010) and his acclaimed translation of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight (2007). A broadcaster and presenter, he also writes extensively for television and radio, is the author of two novels, the bestselling memoir All Points North (1998) and Walking Home (2012), his poetic journey along the Pennine Way.
